A new law in New Jersey requires handicapped parking placard holders to provide a note from their doctor when they renew their permits.
Not only do placard holders need a note for renewals, they will now have to carry a card that matches them to their placard. If police ask for proof that the permit holder is actually in the vehicle it will be easily provided.
According to the article:
“About a half-million people in New Jersey have access to those plates and placards. It’s not clear at this point how many people might be abusing the privilege.”
Half a million seems like a lot to me.
It’s a shock this has to be a law and that it’s just being passed now, but good for New Jersey for doing something that makes absolute sense.
